Attracting a crowd of over 105,000 people to the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show has seen another successful year culminating within the Great Hall of Flowers at the iconic Royal Exhibition Building of Carlton Gardens.
In a show first, Flowers Victoria transformed the sprawling front entry space into a beautiful Bohemian Garden bursting with blooming splendour and showcasing a selection of Victoria’s premium flower growers in fragrant glory.
This beautiful garden was laid with real grass sponsored by VFF member ANCO turf, garnered with festoon lights and individually designed pergolas uniquely representing eight of our premium local growers including:
Australian Roses – Premium Roses
Wafex – Native foliage and flowers (Third prize winners)
Koomen Flower’s – Lilies, tulips, cottage varieties (Second prize winners)
Monvale Flower’s – Foliage, seasonal and Botanical lines
Bloomin’ Koomen – Premium roses
TNB Tulips – Premium glasshouse tulips
JJ’s Flower Farm – Stunning long stem Gladioli
Gloriosa Nursery – Gloriosa Lily and Amaranthis (First prize winner)
The Flowers Victoria stand also featured a living social media wall sponsored by The Orchid Man featuring 38 locally grown hot pink Philaenopsis orchids plants in raw form providing a stunning backdrop for selfies! Sponsors included Tea Tonic serving their Australian made and manufactured botanical iced tea to visitors and The Family Love Tree provided rattan luxe furniture and a welcome respite to well-worn feet! Creating magical illustrations using the colourful petals on the stand was Fashion illustrator Alexia Petsinis who enthralled show goers with her live creations for two days of the show and auctioned two of her artworks at the Flowers Victoria cocktail party for our charity partner White Ribbon Australia.
Together with Koch & Co, Flowers Victoria ran a Floral Vision 360° Competition where entrants where encouraged to create podium floral arrangements on plinths for an event with ‘wow factor’ to be viewed from all angles. The spectacular entries were all unique and exhibited limitless creativity attracting coverage on Better Homes and Gardens and also involved public interaction with visitors encouraged to vote for their favourite display in order to win a flower arrangement delivered to their door every month for six months and an overnight stay at Rydges Hotel.
